Referrals and Medicare rebates

 

Appointments can be made without a referral to the service.

 

In order to access Medicare rebates you will require a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. This will enable you to receive rebates for 6 sessions and then a further 4 sessions upon review with you GP. It is possible that some individuals or families may require more sessions than is covered by the medicare rebates offered.

 

Some health funds also offer rebates for psychological therapy depending on the level of cover the individual has.

Assessment and Subsequent Appointments

The initial assessment session is aimed at understanding your concerns and hopes for therapy and the context in which challenges occur. The session will take approximately 90 minutes. When you phone for your appointment, you will be informed as to who should attend.

Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes and may involve the individual, the couple or family together. The number of sessions required for each individual or family varies depending on their needs. This will be discussed during assessment and over the course of therapy.
